Gagle Brook Primary School Supports Children with Genetic Disorders

Gagle Brook Primary School Supports Children with Genetic Disorders

Last Friday, our pupils took part in a fundraising event for Jeans for Genes Day. This special day helps to raises money in support of children with life-altering genetic disorders. As part of The White Horse Federation family, we are passionate about improving outcomes for children, and we are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause.

Although, individually, genetic disorders are rare, there are around 600 different variations. When combined together, they are the biggest killer of children under the age of 15. An estimated one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder, and 30,000 babies and children are newly diagnosed in the UK each year.

The money we raised on Jeans for Genes Day was donated to Genetic Disorder UK, a registered charity that strives to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by genetic disorders. They use donations to fund their work and provide grants to organisations for projects that assist children with a genetic disorder.

Examples of the provisions funded by Jeans for Genes Day include specialist nursing care, summer camps, and theatre productions featuring multi-sensory activities.

We’d like to thank everyone who took part in Jeans for Genes Day for their hard work and generosity, which really made it a special and successful event.
